New basketball hoops and standards were dedicated at St. George School on May 19. Coun. Brian Mayes (St. Vital) provided $11,800 in ward funding for new poles, hoops, and backboards at the St. Vital-based school. Mayes joined students, administrators and Louis Riel School Division trustee Chris Sigurdson to celebrate the new features, and took the opportunity to shoot a few hoops. “LRSD is a great partner — this is the eighth basketball upgrade we’ve done together,” Mayes said in a statement.
