The following is a list of services for Remembrance Day in Winnipeg.
• RBC Convention Centre – 375 York Avenue. Please be seated at 10:15 a.m. Complimentary parking at the Millennium Library Parking Facility. Blood donor clinic following service.
• St. James Legion Branch No. 4 -1966 Portage Ave. will host a service at Bruce Park. The parade marches over from Lyle Street at 10:40 a.m. for an 11 a.m. service. Parade marches back to St. James Legion down Portage Ave following service.
• Minto Armouries – 969 St. Matthews Ave. Arrive at 10 a.m. for 10:30 a.m. service in main drill hall.
• McGregor Armouries – 551 Machray Ave. Arrive at 10 a.m. for service at 10:30 in main drill hall.
• Valour Road Memorial at Valour Plaza – Sargent Avenue at Valour Street. Arrive at 10:30 a.m. for 10:45 service.
• HMCS Chippawa – 1 Navy Way. Be seated for 10 a.m.
• ANAVETS Assiniboia Unit 283 – 3584 Portage Ave. Seated for 10:30 a.m. in main hall.
• Charleswood Legion Branch No. 100 will host a service at Oak Park High School (820 Charleswood Rd.). Must be seated before 10:30 a.m.
• Deer Lodge Centre -2109 Portage Ave. Service commences at 2 p.m.
• Brooklands and Weston Legion Branch No. 2 – 1613 Logan Ave. Service commences at 10:45 a.m.
• Ukrainian Legion Br. 141 – 618 Selkirk Ave. Service commences at noon.
• Winnipeg South Osborne Legion
Branch No. 252 – 426 Osborne St. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and close at 10:45 and service begins at 11.
• West Kildonan Legion Branch No. 30 – 1748 Main St. Doors open to hall at 10:30 a.m. for 10:55 service.
• Prince Edward Legion Branch No. 81 – Holy Eucharist Hall, 460 Munroe Ave. Doors open at 10 a.m., service commences at 10:50.
• Norwood St. Boniface Legion Branch No. 43 – 134 Marion St. Service to be held at St. Phillips Church. Legion members to march from Legion at 10:15 a.m. to church for service at 10:45.
• Henderson Highway Legion – Eastview Community Church (3500 DeVries Ave.). Seated for 10:30 a.m.
• Elmwood Legion Branch No. 9 – 920 Nairn Ave. Weather perming there will be a short service at Elmwood Cemetery at 10 a.m. with a service at the Legion at 11.
• Fort Garry Legion Branch No. 90 – 1125 Pembina Hwy. Doors open at 9 a.m. until capacity reached. Commences at 10:45.
• Transcona Legion Branch No. 7- 117 Regent Ave E. Parade forms up at branch at 10 a.m. and marches to Transcona East End Arena, 517 Pandora for service.
• On Nov. 10 there will be a Royal Winnipeg Rifles Memorial at Vimy Park (Portage Avenue and Home Street). Arrive at 10 a.m. for a 10:30 service start.
• On Nov. 8, Aboriginal Veterans’ Day will be marked at 181 Higgins Ave. Service begins at 10:30 a.m.
The Bells of Peace
At sunset on Nov. 11 churches and other facilities across Canada will ring their bells to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended fighting on land, sea and air between the Allies and Germany during the First World War.
The armistice came into force at 11 a.m. Paris time on Nov. 11, 1918.
