Hey there, time traveller!

Nov. 30, 2015, will be a bittersweet day for the many, many people who have walked through the doors of Image Fitness Centre for Women over the past 13 years.  As is true in life, everything comes to an end, which is the case for our neighbourhood gym.

Red River Co-op will soon be rejuvenating the corner of Ness Avenue and Whytewold Road with a gas bar and many improvements to the existing mall.

Although Image will no longer be a tenant, the other existing tenants will remain, as only half of the mall will be taken down come springtime.

So don’t worry, Total Wrapture Medi Spa will remain the fantastic business it is; a great place to slip in for that massage you’ve been thinking about.

Since business owner Angie Jureidini took on the amazing task of opening a women-only fitness facility 13 years ago, her courage, strength and impressive business skills have never faltered. The decision for her to close Image was an extremely difficult one, both professionally and personally.

Since I know first-hand how hard it is to close a business in our neighbourhood (Sidewinder Indoor Skateboard Park ), I understand that doing so sometimes means that lives are transformed in positive ways, which can sometimes be more important than the bottom line.

So, come Monday morning on Nov. 30, there will be laughter, tears and hugs.

For some of us who have become friends since joining Image 13 years ago, our lives will forever be entwined, although maybe not in the usual manner of chatting while sweat runs down our back on a gym floor…

Maybe now we’ll share stories over a glass of wine at a local restaurant.
I’m one of those people who embraces change and get excited at what the future holds so I’m happy that Red River Co-op will be sprucing up our neighbourhood.

Change can be good!

On a final and personal note, I’d like to thank Angie (and her partner Michael, who has worked just as hard on the sidelines) for opening her doors at 2255 Ness Avenue many moons ago. Not only do I feel healthy on the inside but my heart is so full with the life-long friendships I have made and would not have made without her and Image Fitness Centre for Women.
I hope to see you all at Total Wrapture Medi Spa one day!
