Jailbirds of a feather flock together. On Jan. 18, Polo Park Shopping Centre set up a state-of-the-art penitentiary for Winnipeg’s most wanted. The Canadian Cancer Society organized their first-ever Jail-N-Bail fundraiser, in the hopes of putting cancer behind bars forever, according to a release.

On Monday, participants had the opportunity to phone in and snitch on friends, co-workers and bosses, who were then hauled away to jail until their friends and families raised enough “bail money” to break them free. Winnipeggers raised over $42,000 in the fight against cancer.

Jail-N-Bail organizers thank PCL Constructors Canada (1540 Gamble Pl.) for their generous donation of the jail. PCL’s director of business development Alfred Schleier was the top fundraiser, raising over $8,600 on his own.
