On May 10, the Movement Disorder Clinic celebrated 10 years since opening on the property of the Deer Lodge Centre. In honour of the anniversary, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba Janice Filmon unveiled a plaque in commemoration of the women who played a role in the construction of the building that houses the clinic. Former MLA Bonnie Korzeniowski, who once served as the province’s special envoy for military affairs, is credited with gathering the political support necessary to save the building from demolition and disrepair and its eventual use as the clinic.
