On Aug. 3, the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada saw a small but impressive new plane added to its collection. The Nieuport 11, nicknamed bébé for its small stature, was flown in the air war over Verdun, France in 1916. The plane weighs slightly more than a grand piano and features roofless cockpit. Pilot Larry Ricker of Vimy Flight was on hand to tell visitors about the plane and how it fared in battle. The group also took part in the RAMWC’s paper airplane contest in the paper plane factory, which features games and tutorials on paper plane making.
