Special Olympics athletes receive City of Winnipeg awards

On Sept. 5, Mayor Brian Bowman presented Outstanding Achievement Awards to athletes, including several from West Winnipeg, who competed in this year’s Special Olympics Canada Summer Games and Bowling Championships.

Among those recognized are Silver Heights resident and five-pin bowler Garrick Van Den Berghe; and basketball players Brenton Kehler (Weston) and Elijah Ilag (West End).
