Armstrong’s Point residents recently recognized the hard-working health-care professionals at nearby Misericordia Health Centre by sending appreciative hand-written cards and making a $575 donation to the foundation’s Around the World in 80 Days fundraising campaign. Dr. Diamond Kassum, president of Armstrong’s Point Association, made the presentation on March 1 to Gwen Smith of the Misericordia Health Centre Foundation.
“This is a very special gift for our health-care heroes,” Smith said. “It means so much coming from our neighbours across the street.”
Now through May 20, Misericordia Place residents are walking, pedalling and wheeling to dream destinations around the globe. Along the way, they’ll engage with virtual tours and videos for the full travel experience. Together, the goal is to cover 40,000 kilometres, the distance around the world.
The foundation’s Around the World in 80 Days campaign aims to raise $80,000 in support of residents in long-term care as well as MHC’s health-care heroes.
