Sports clinic moves from Pan Am to Tuxedo

Winnipeg’s premier sports and orthopedic physiotherapy centre has a new home.  

The Sports Physiotherapy Centre — which has been operating since 1979 — recently relocated from the Pan Am Clinic to 76 Nature Park Way, marking a new chapter in the injury rehabilitation centre’s rich history.

“lt’s a great move for us as a clinic,” says SPC director Laurie Urban. “Our clients — many of whom have seen us numerous times for numerous injuries over the years — will receive the same great Sports Physiotherapy Centre care that they’ve grown to trust, but in a new location that is even more convenient.”

Located just off Kenaston Blvd., just blocks away from IKEA, SPC’s new digs is a quick car ride from its former Pan Am Clinic site. The reason for the move is because the building’s landlord, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, needed the space for its orthopedic surgery program.

“It’s brand new, it’s fresh and clean and designed specifically for us,” Urban says of SPC’s new facility.

“We also have some new equipment, which the staff is pretty happy about. Of course, moving is always stressful and ours just happened to coincide with the coldest couple weeks of the year, but we’re in and everything is good.”

The clinic is still the go-to place for assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal ailments. That includes sport-related injuries, work-related injuries, injuries resulting from automobile accidents, post-surgery rehabilitation and neck and back pain. SPC also treats illness-related ailments, for instance pain and dysfunction stemming from arthritic conditions.

In other words, it’s business as usual at SPC.

“It’s the same programs, the same people, the same physiotherapists, the same athletic therapists, massage therapists and occupational therapists, the same support staff and the same great care,” Urban says.

“Some may look at our move as surprising or a step down, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The new location lets us stand out on our own and continue the high standard of care we’ve always held ourselves up to.”

The new facility — officially titled Centric Health Sports Physiotherapy Centre — is now up and running, accepting new clients and honouring all previously scheduled appointments.
