Winnipeg Boys’ Choir celebrates 90 years

For 90 years young voices have been tuned up as part of the Winnipeg Boys’ Choir.

Founded in 1925 with support from the Men’s Music Club of Winnipeg, the choir has won a number of awards and accolades in nearly a century of song. 

The choir is celebrating its 90 years of achievements with Christmas and spring concerts at Crescent Fort Rouge United Church (525 Wardlaw Ave.). On Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. the Winnipeg Boys’ Choir presents “What Sweeter Music” directed by Carolyn Boyes and Spencer Duncanson.

The choir will be accompanied by pianist Annelie Reimer, New York harpist Grace Cloutier, Len LaRue on the glockenspiel, and Larry Weckwerth on the organ. 

Tickets for the concert are $12 for adults, $8 for students and children 12 and under are free. The choir is also inviting alumni to get in touch and possibly sing at the spring concert on May 10, 2015.
