Kerri Irvin-Ross named Deputy Premier

The provincial cabinet was shuffled once again on April 29.

Fort Richmond MLA Kerri Irvin-Ross has taken over as deputy premier in addition to her duties as Minister of Family Services, Minister Responsible for the Civil Service, Minister Responsible for Persons with Disabilities and Minister Responsible for Status of Women.

Fort Garry-Riverview MLA James Allum was reinstated as Minister of Education and Advanced Learning after being taken off the portfolio to act as Minister of Justice in November 2014.

Other changes to cabinet include:

• Steve Ashton (Thompson), Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, and Minister Responsible for Emergency Measures;

• Drew Caldwell (Brandon East), Minister Responsible for Relations with the City of Winnipeg;

• Gord Mackintosh (St. Johns), Minister of Justice and Attorney General;

• Tom Nevakshonoff  (Interlake), Minister of Conservation and Water Stewardship; and

• Mohinder Saran (Maples), Minister of Housing and Community Development.
