One of the highlights of being the MLA for St. Norbert is having the opportunity to meet my constituents face-to-face at events all around the community.
Last year, with my son Cody and my wife Michelle, I attended over 200 events in the area and around the province. I’ve made a short video with pictures of some of the events in 2014. You can watch it at bit.ly/Gaudreau2014
If you have any events you would like to share with me, I’ll do my best to attend. I can work at them, too — I love flipping burgers, turning hot dogs and serving cake.
I really enjoy attending events because it’s a great opportunity for me to chat with you about our wonderful community. This is such an inspiration for me; after all, it’s you and your families who are the reason I decided to run as an MLA.
I have worked very hard to make things happen for our area and I’m proud that so much has been accomplished. This does not happen all by itself. My colleagues at the legislature help ensure things that I’ve been advocating for are getting done here in St. Norbert.
A great example is the spray pad at Waverley Heights Community Club that opened just a few weeks ago. This spray pad will give hours of free family fun to families, much like the one we built at the St. Norbert Community Club. I love seeing the families out there enjoying the day with a picnic while the kids have a great time in the sun.
Another great example is our extensive work on Pembina Highway. We partnered with the City of Winnipeg to rebuild the stretch between Chancellor Drive and Markham Road, which also now includes buffered bike lanes. This year we are also having the same work done on the stretch between Bairdmore Boulevard and Kirkbridge Drive.
I’m proud of the all work our government is doing in St. Norbert, like the expansion of École Noël Ritchot and building the new South Pointe School. Put together, these projects will create many new child care spaces for families. I know from when my son was young that child care is very important. That is why in 2014, our government announced a five-year plan to create a universally accessible child-care system and add 5,000 newly funded, licensed spaces.
It is a pleasure to be your MLA and I will continue to work hard for everyone in St. Norbert.
