Winnipeg South Centre Member of Parliament Jim Carr is the new Minister of Natural Resources.

Carr was sworn into cabinet on Nov. 4 during a ceremony in Ottawa at Rideau Hall.

The Crescentwood resident was elected to represent the riding on Oct. 19 in a landslide victory.

Carr, who has held positions as an MLA and was the founding president of the Business Council of Manitoba, takes over the position from the former Minister of Natural Resources, Greg Rickford.

Also representing Manitoba in the new federal cabinet is MaryAnn Mihychuk, MP for Kildonan-St. Paul. Mihychuk will take on the role of Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour.

Carr was unavailable for comment by press time.
