The Assiniboine Park Zoo has announced the return of white-handed gibbons to the park.

The former pavilion that was home to the zoo’s Asiatic lions, which were sent to Europe for a breeding program, will be renovated into a gibbon exhibit and the indoor portion is scheduled to be complete this fall.

The gibbons will move in and live inside throughout the winter. Renovations of the outdoor component will begin in the winter and the exhibit should be opened in spring 2017.
