ACCESS Fort Garry primary care clinic opens
The new ACCESS Fort Garry health centre has opened its doors to the primary care clinic.
The clinic officially opened on June 20 with summer hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The remaining services at the ACCESS Centre, including Employment and Income Assistance and health and social services, will open in August.
According to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, the primary care clinic provides doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, mental health clinicians, a dietitian, a pharmacist, and primary care assistants in the delivery of team-based care.
People looking for a primary care provider can call the Family Doctor Finder at 204-786-7111.
ACCESS Fort Garry (135 Plaza Dr.) is located behind the Pembina Crossing Mall, off Pembina Highway near Bishop Grandin Boulevard. There are two entrances to the building and the main entrance with visitor parking is located off Plaza Drive.
Cat video festival with purrr-pose
Talk about feisty film.
The Winnipeg Humane Society is hosting its Just for Cats video festival on July 6 at The Park Theatre (698 Osborne St.) featuring some of the funniest and cutest cat videos on the internet.
This year, the Just For Cats event will have two shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. with all new footage of felines frolicking in front of the camera.
Tickets to the fundraiser are $10 each and there will also be real-live kittens to cuddle. Doors open at 6:15 and 8:30 p.m. and tickets are available at myparktheatre.com or from The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, 204-982-2041.
Entertainment series underway at APC
Assiniboine Park’s Red River Co-op Summer Entertainment Series brings musical performances and events to the park all summer long.
Upcoming performances include Bon Jovi tribute band, Bed of Roses, on Fri., July 8, country singer Leanne Pearson, on Fri., July 15, and Mariachi Continental on July 31. Movies in the Park will begin Aug. 5 with The Good Dinosaur and Jurassic World.

Terry Fox Fitness Trail reopens at Assiniboine Park
The Terry Fox Fitness Trail, located in the southeast area of Assiniboine Park, has officially been reopened.
The one-kilometre trail was closed for several months while undergoing extensive renovations and the replacement of all fitness equipment.
The refurbished trail runs through what will eventually be one of the outdoor portions of Canada’s Diversity Gardens.
The renovation included the installation of 12 pieces of modern outdoor fitness equipment, instructional signage, landscape repair, and rehabilitation work in the surrounding area including the planting of approximately 100 young trees.
More than $115,000 was raised in support of the refurbishment.
