Since Ryan Hlady was young, he always knew he wanted to own his own shop, and sure enough last year his dream came true when he took over as owner of Bob’s Transmissions on Pembina Highway.
“When my wife and I started dating I was a 21-year-old kid that had big dreams and goals,” said Ryan. “I told her I was going to own our own shop by the time I was 35. She laughed and said oooookay.”
But when he took the key from original owner Bob Bertrand within months of his birthday, he was true to his word.

When looking to get into business for himself, Ryan found Bob’s Transmissions which had a solid reputation of being a friendly neighbourhood establishment and providing great work at a fair price.
“I literally stumbled upon Bob’s Transmissions out of the blue and it just fit. Location was stellar, independent and established business, solid clientele and my wife said this was the one!” Ryan said.
Bob’s Transmissions specializes in transmissions but offers repairs and maintenance to most areas of a vehicle.
“We build all of our transmissions in house by our builder Brian, who has been with the company as long as I’ve been alive,” Ryan said. “I have a solid technician, Dennis who works his butt off to meet deadlines and also won’t let a vehicle leave the shop if he feels it’s unsafe. The integrity of my key players is paramount to our success,” said Ryan.
