Over 200 members of the Winnipeg Yazidi community and the multi-faith sponsorship initiative Operation Ezra got together for an annual barbecue at Assiniboine Park in late June. According to organizers, about 80 government sponsored refugees joined the festivities along with Operation Ezra families, committee members, and volunteers. Since 2015, the Jewish-led coalition has sponsored 55 Yazidi refugees to come to Winnipeg.
