The Afro-Caribbean Association of Manitoba marked its 50th anniversary at this year’s Folklorama.
In its new location at the Pembina Curling Club in Fort Garry, the pavilion showcased the talents of lithe limbo dancer Prince Jo Jo (hailing from Ocho Rios, Jamaica), Clyde Heerah and the Paradize Band, the Afro-Caribbean Dancers, Ariya Afrika, and the Jamaican Folk Ensemble. In the kitchen, volunteers prepared meals of jerk chicken, curried goat, and vegetable roti for a hungry dinner crowd.
The Africa-Caribbean pavilion will close on Aug. 11 but the Folklorama festivities continue this week until Aug. 18.

A note to attendees: parking is available behind Vincent Massey Collegiate, organizers say, and parking is restricted in the neighbouring Safeway lot.
