Fort Richmond music educator awarded
Morna-June Morrow, a retired music specialist and supervisor who worked 55 years in the public school system, received the Canadian Music Educators Association National Builders award on Oct. 19.
The award was given out at the Manitoba Music Educators Association TEMPO conference held at Mennonite Brethren Collegiate. Morrow was nominated by the Manitoba Music Educators Association for the award.
Morrow was a music supervisor in the Fort Garry School Division in the 1970s and founding president of the Manitoba Orff Chapter. She also has a long list of distinctions attached to her name, including Manitoba Lieutenant-Governor’s Elementary Classroom Teacher award nominee, and YWCA Women of Distinction award nominee.
Jewish Child and Family Services speaker series continues with gender and sexual diversity
The Can we talk about… speaker series will tackle the topic of gender and sexual diversity at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Nov. 1.
Hosted by Jewish Child and Family Service, the event will feature Bradley West, a whole life coach and human sexuality specialist, as he shares his approach to inclusive and supportive dialogue at home, at work, at play.
West has worked in public and private sectors throughout North America and the Pacific Rim on programs that encourage all forms of inclusion in a diversified workforce including intergenerational, LGTBQ, and racial diversity.
The presentation entitled “Gender and Sexual Diversity: It includes all of us, not just some of us” will be followed by a facilitated, audience-driven question and answer session and a resource fair.
