The leader of Manitoba’s Green Party is running for MLA in Fort Garry-Riverview.
James Beddome, a South Osborne resident and lawyer at Jerch Law, has added his name to the ballot for the spring provincial election.
The announcement was made on Sept. 4.

“Fort Garry-Riverview is one of the greenest ridings in Manitoba,” Beddome said in a statement. “It is home to numerous organizations, small businesses, and social entrepreneurs who are working to build a healthy, sustainable community. I look forward to working with them to bring a Green voice to the Manitoba legislature.”
Beddome was raised on a mixed livestock farm near Rapid City, Man. and has experience in agriculture, entrepreneurship, finance, and environmental consulting.
He was the first Green Party member to take part in the leaders’ debate in the 2011 provincial election.
The provincial election is tentatively scheduled for April 19.
Fort Garry-Riverview is currently represented by the NDP’s James Allum. Other candidates include Progressive Conservative Jeannette Montufar.
