Police arrest three suspects in jewelry store robbery

Police have arrested three suspects in connection to a jewelry store robbery on Pembina Highway.

On June 2 around 4:30 p.m. an armed male concealing his identity entered a jewelry store in the 2000 block of Pembina.

The store clerk was confronted by the suspect, who demanded merchandise and continued to smash display cases removing a large quantity of jewelry.

According to police, an altercation between the store clerk and suspect erupted at which time the clerk remotely locked the doors, trapping the suspect inside.

The suspect eventually left the store and fled in a Ford Edge.

Police located the vehicle and two suspects at 10:10 p.m. that evening in the area of Provencher Boulevard and Tache Avenue. The suspects were taken into custody.

Robert Sauer, 24, was arrested and faces numerous charges for his alleged involvement, including:

• Armed robbery using a firearm;
• Disguise with intent;
• Use of firearm during commission of an indictable offence;
• Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition;
• Possession of a weapon;
• Carrying concealed weapon prohibited device or ammunition;
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm;  
• Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition; and
• Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime.

Madeline Wight, 22, has been charged with armed robbery using a firearm due to her alleged involvement.

A third suspect, John Stengel, 29, was arrested a short time later at a residence on Doucet Street and is facing a number of firearms related charges.
