The holiday season is well underway and if you still have people on your list, here are a few great local businesses which promote local products and creators:

• For the art lover on your list, Spaces n Places has a series of detailed pen-and-ink sketches by local artist Shaheer Mansour.

“My Winnipeg drawings covered the city’s most iconic historic and modern architecture, to celebrate the city’s diverse and rich architecture,” said Mansour, founder of Spaces n Places. “Drawings include St. Boniface Cathedral, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, and the Esplanade Riel Bridge.”

• Know someone who has left the province and may appreciate a taste of home? Winnipeg North of Fargo has the perfect gift for you.

“We try to capture the fun, sometimes odd things about Winnipeg and Manitoba that you might only understand if you live or lived here,” said owner Roy Liang.

“A lot of our stuff is vintage-focused so there are lots of memories when people see our stuff for the first time! We make a lot of pillows, tea towels, ornaments, pouches, and more.”

 • For the coffee lover on your list, Writers and Rockers Coffee is a partnership between some of Canada’s most iconic bands, and local author Robert Young.

“For some people coffee is much more than just a morning drink,” Young said. “We drink it when socializing, when working, relaxing and even when we’re being creative. I noticed years ago while writing my last book that a good cup of coffee had become part of my ‘toolbox’. And my musician friends felt the same.”

They sell whole beans in a variety of flavours, such as Trooper’s Raise A Little Hell and Harlequin’s Sweet Things In Life. Coffee can be found at the Lilac and Maryland Foodfare locations, Radiance Gifts and online at www.writersandrockerscoffee.com
