Baseball players enjoy successful games

River Park South resident Jordan Lussier and Island Lakes resident Martin Gisiger both represented Team Manitoba in baseball at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. The two players had success pitching in the tournament and helped the team reach the gold medal game at Shaw Park, where Manitoba was defeated 3-1 by Saskatchewan. Manitoba hadn’t won a medal in baseball at the games since 1985. During the tournament, Lussier pitched nine innings in total, striking out seven batters with no runs allowed. He earned two wins, one against New Brunswick and one against Team Alberta. Gisiger pitched 6.1 innings in total, striking out seven batters with one run allowed. He earned the win against Prince Edward Island while making his TSN debut. He also picked up a save against Nova Scotia. Both players pitched in the gold medal game, allowing no runs against.
