Pickleball players will soon have a chance to pick up the pace at Dakota Community Centre.

The St. Vital-based centre, located at 1188 Dakota St., will soon host its first pickleball tournament, which will include a day of women’s doubles on April 18, a day of mixed doubles on April 19 and a day of men’s doubles on April 20.

Organizers say the initial registration cost for the unsanctioned tournament is $35, and it will cost a subsequent $10 for the second event a player registers for. Pairs are asked to register individually. When registering, players are asked to indicate their level of play to help with the scheduling of games in different divisions: 2.5-3.0, 3.5-4.0, and 4.0-plus.

Teams will be guaranteed three round robin games and a single playoff game. Line judges will be used for the final round, while all round robin and playoff games, apart from the final, will be scored by the players.

The tournament will be held in the centre’s fieldhouse. Go online at dakotacc.com for more information, or to register.
