Nolan Harding is a 15-year-old Grade 9 at Shaftesbury High School who loves hockey.

“I play with RHA (Rink Hockey Academy) and it’s an incredible academy,” he said. “We have traveled all across western Canada. Right now we are ranked fourth in western Canada. I play centre, sometimes left wing. For sure centre is my favourite position. I feel most comfortable playing in the middle. The thing I have always loved is playing with my friends and competing. I like working hard and skating hard. We always have a lot of fun hanging out and playing hockey.”

Nolan lives in River Park South with his dad Dave, his mom Tammy, and younger sister Lainey.

“For sure I am very thankful for all my mom and dad have sacrificed,” he said. “They are always there for me. My mom is the most caring person I know. I always want to make my dad proud. I am very thankful for my parents.”

You can feel the intensity and excitement about the sport he loves when you talk to Nolan about hockey. His intensity will come in handy to achieve his dream.

“For sure my dream is to get a paycheck playing hockey one day,” he said. “I think that’s almost every kid’s dream. I would love to play pro. When I get older I would also like to be a coach, too.”

Nolan has a great future in front of him and he has this advice for young athletes:

“Do your best to act wisely and listen to the advice of your parents and coaches. The biggest thing is to practice hard. Always have the mindset of wanting it. If you have a dream, go get it.”
