From unique small local shops and restaurants to large corporations and non-profits, our community is vibrant and diverse, with a wide range of businesses and organizations that make a positive impact beyond our neighbourhoods. These businesses contribute to the economy, provide jobs, and help shape the character of our community. Whether you work, shop, or live in west Winnipeg, you have likely visited several of our fabulous businesses.

Each of these businesses and individuals shines in their own unique way. Some may be recognized for their financial success and innovation, while others may be celebrated for their community-building efforts and philanthropy. Regardless of their goals and successes, they all play a crucial role in making West Winnipeg the vibrant and thriving community it is today.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that nominations for the 2023 business sxcellence awards are now open. The Assiniboia Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to join us in recognizing local business leaders who have gone above and beyond to make west Winnipeg a better place to do business.

Businesses can be nominated in five different categories, each designed to recognize excellence in a particular area. These categories include: business of the year; community builder of the year; innovator of the year; non-profit of the year; and young entrepreneur of the year.

Last year’s winners were shining examples of what west Winnipeg businesses have to offer.

Dave’s Quick Print was named business of the year, Peak of the Market won community builder of the year;

San Vito Coffee House was recognized as innovator of the year; Community Ambition Day Services Inc. took home the non-profit of the year award, and Bison Liquors was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

We encourage everyone to think about the businesses and individuals that have made a positive impact on their lives in 2022-23 and to nominate them for a business excellence award. Deadline for nominations is March 31, 2023, and finalists will be announced in April. The winners will be revealed at at our annual general meeting in May. By recognizing the hard work and dedication of our local stars, we can inspire others to strive for excellence and build a more vibrant and successful community for everyone.
