St. Paul’s High School student is MHSAA athlete of the week

The Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association’s urban athlete of the week for the week ending Nov. 9 was Jack Taylor of the St. Paul’s Crusaders volleyball team.

Taylor was named most valuable player at the St. Vital Invitational tournament, where he helped the Crusaders reach the championship game. He led the team in kills with a combined 45 between the semi-final and final matches, totalled nine blocks and led his team in aces with five over the two games.

“Jack was a force that couldn’t be stopped and made his presence felt throughout the gym,” coach Dustin Spiring said in a release. “On top of his statistical performance, Jack was a vocal leader who brought out the best in his fellow teammates.”

Taylor is in Grade 12 and maintains a 93 per cent academic average.
