Ab McDonald Arena dedicated at St. James Civic Centre

The arena at St. James Civic Centre has been renamed in honour of Winnipeg hockey legend Ab McDonald, former NHL player and the original captain of the Winnipeg Jets when the World Hockey Association was launched in 1972.
The Ab McDonald Arena was officially dedicated at a ceremony on Friday, Dec. 9 and visitors to the arena will be greeted by an installation in the lobby featuring images, replica hockey cards and stories from McDonald’s career. Two large murals highlighting McDonald have been created on the walls of the arena itself.
McDonald won four Stanley Cups — three with the Montreal Canadiens and one with the Chicago Black Hawks — during his career.
