The Disraeli Freeway received its honorary ‘Bachman Turner Overdrive’ title on May 18, in tribute to the band of the same name. The event was celebrated by bandmates Fred Turner and Randy Bachman — visiting Winnipeg as part of their ‘Roll Down The Highway’ Canadian tour — alongside local councillors and rock n’ roll lovers from all over the city.

The group chanted “BTO! BTO!” as the sign was installed, appropriately marking a special tribute to one of Winnipeg’s many iconic bands. The sign is seen best on the grounds of Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Education Centre, where Disraeli Freeway connects to Main Street.
