The crowd in the field adjacent to Marymound, at 442 Scotia St., was shoulder-to-shoulder on the afternoon of June 11, when the social-services organization for youth celebrated Honouring the Land, its annual Indigenous peoples community gathering and powwow. The event, which was open to the public, celebrates Indigenous culture and community with a ceremony, a healthy serving of hearty food, live dance and loud music. There was also a variety of local vendors and community organizations on hand, such as the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre, which brought owls and snakes to capture the attention of visitors and onlookers.
