The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation held a TD Tree Days event at FortWhyte Alive on Oct. 3. Over 100 volunteers planted more than 600 mostly coniferous trees, despite wet weather, in just over an hour.

“Trees provide shade, shelter, noise and dust reduction, aesthetic beauty, recreational benefits, wildlife habitat, watershed protection and soil stabilization, site screening and clean air,” said Ken Fosty, a certified arborist and forestry specialist involved with the event, in a statement. “I’m proud to be involved with TD Tree Days. Trees are important, make a positive impact and contribute to healthy neighbourhoods.”
