West Kildonan C.C. to host public skate on Feb. 22
West Kildonan Community Centre (346 Perth Ave.) will host a princess-and-superhero-themed public skate at its arena on Sunday, Feb. 22 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Youngsters are encouraged to bring their favourite character costumes.
Techapalooza 2026 slated for Feb. 28
This year’s annual Techapalooza, in support of the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, will be held Feb. 28 at Club Regent Event Centre.
The annual fundraising event brings together professionals from the tech industry for a battle of the bands.
The 2026 contenders are Bill and Dave’s Garage Band, Canada Life’s Great Big C++, Canucktivity, Depeche Modern Eh?, Moorissette’s Law, Port 54-40 and Reckless Saints.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first band will begin playing at 6.

Applications to Indigenous carpentry program are open
Applications to the Indigenous Leadership Development Institute’s Indigenous introduction to carpentry program, set to take place at Lotus Learning Solutions (87 Cole Ave.) are currently open. The program is scheduled to begin on May 20 and run until Oct. 9, and participants will learn skills such as fall protection, aerial lift, first aid, WHIMIS, and more. Graduates will have achieved 800 hours towards a level 1 apprenticeship and be job ready
Applicants must be of Indigenous ancestry, possess Grade 12 math or equivalent, and be eligible for funding. Preference will be given to those who are currently unemployed or under employed. The deadline is May 4.
