Notifying provincial Crown corporations, civic agencies and some private companies of a change of address has just become a lot easier.

The province recently launched a new website (www.manitobaaddresschange.ca) to provide Manitobans with a way to contact multiple organizations and companies which require new home addresses to continue providing services.

Minister of Innovation, Energy and Mines Dave Chomiak announced last month the creation of the new website to register address changes across the province.

“Anyone who has been through a move knows how time-consuming making an address change can be. This new website will help speed up that process and make it easier,” he said.

Users of the site select the organizations they wish to notify of an address change and submit their information. The website can be used by individuals already living in Manitoba or who are preparing to move to the province.

West Kildonan resident Madeline Sayback, who moved to Winnipeg from Toronto in 2005, said she thinks the website will make it easier for individuals to get the word out about their impending moves.

“I like the ease of access but I am surprised some of the groups, especially arms of the government and Crown corporations don’t already share information like this,” she said.

The website allows individuals to notify agencies and corporations immediately of recent or upcoming changes of address.

Organizations that are partnered with the site include Manitoba Hydro, City of Winnipeg water and waste, Manitoba Health and Shaw Communications. Plans call for the service to eventually be expanded to include additional Crown corporations, other municipal governments and more non-government agencies.
