Hey there, time traveller!

I want to thank all the people of Point Douglas for their tremendous support during my time serving as your MLA.
It has been an incredible privilege to represent an area where people are so proud of who they are, so proud of where they come from, and so willing to give back. Growing up, this neighbourhood gave me so many opportunities and the supports I needed to succeed. This tradition continues today for our children through our ability to see potential and possibility where others see barriers.
I have learned many lessons working for the people of Point Douglas. One of the most important is that we can make a difference when our community is engaged. We are seeing that with the success of events like 100 Basketballs that builds belonging for many North End youth, Run with the Chiefs that strengthens relationships between police and the community, and LITE’s (Local Investment Toward Employment) annual pancake breakfast that creates jobs in our area. Everyone needs to feel part of their neighbourhood and have a sense of contribution.
I also learned that it is important that we take the time to celebrate our neighbourhood’s stories of success in working together. Turning the Merchants Hotel into a housing and education centre, building a new playground for King Edward School, and giving our kids a better start with a first-in-Canada early childhood education program at Lord Selkirk Park Child Care Centre are just a few examples of what we have been able to achieve.
The North End is rooted in a tradition of overcoming challenges and helping others do the same. I am committed to continuing our work together in this neighbourhood with a focus on the education, training, and employment of our young Indigenous community, new immigrants, and young women.
Whatever comes next for me on our shared journey, please know how much I have appreciated your support and look forward to building our relationships.
I am excited to spend more time with my wife Melanie and our three children: six-year-old Hayden, two-year-old Kellan, and eight-month-old Daxton. From my family to you and yours — wishing you health, peace, and happiness during the holidays and throughout the new year!
Kitchi Miigwech!
