Residents are eagerly waiting to witness something “extra” in the new Sobeys Extra that is the new anchor tenant of Fort Richmond Plaza.
The first great extra addition is the new set of traffic lights that now connects Richmond West Plaza with Fort Richmond Plaza, guaranteeing a safer, quicker, and more user-friendly flow of traffic. This will facilitate shoppers’ easy and safe access to parking lots and stores on both sides of the street and should result in a higher volume of business in the neighborhood.
Another good extra is the solar-powered security camera that stands tall in the Fort Richmond Plaza parking lot. They will undoubtedly make many shoppers more confident of their safety. There are also extra safety measures in place, such as speed breakers and stop signs that will definitely force many drivers to put safety first in the parking lot.
As for the store itself, residents are hoping to see a very price-competitive grocery store on all items.
It’s also obvious that there will be dozens of jobs for both old and young. Indeed, as of this writing many of the job openings were already being advertised, with listings from bookkeepers to dietitians to deli and à la carte manager. All of these are good signs for those hoping to see the promises of Marc Poulin, Sobeys CEO, fulfilled.
On the company’s website, he promises that “Sobeys Extra showcases all the aspects of the store working together, from better, fresher produce, to better ingredients, to health counseling on supplements, and pharmacy follow-up in cases of illness.”
