Garden City resident Taylor Demetrioff picked up the RBC Believe in Youth Award at the 2014 Heroes of Mental Health Awards, presented by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Winnipeg Region on Oct. 9 at the Delta Hotel. Demetrioff, 23, who was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder at age 18, is the director of youth programming at Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba (MDAM) and the founder of the Let it Out! Summer Rock Camp for Teens, which has been held at Robert A. Steen Community Centre in Wolseley for the last several years. Presented by MDAM, the music camp sees youth playing music together while also learning about mental health issues and coping strategies.
