Maples Collegiate graduate Clarisse Ocampo won a bronze medal in car painting at the 18th annual Skills Manitoba Competition, which was held Red River College’s Notre Dame and Roblin Centre campuses on April 9. Ocampo, 18, recently returned to Maples Collegiate to take its painting/auto mechanical repair co-operative vocational education (CVE) program. Ocampo told The Times she enjoys the process of car painting and the sense of accomplishment it gives her. “It’s like a piece of art,” she said. “In the end it’s all on how well you’ve prepped the car and how good your techniques were in the process of painting it in creating your final product.”
