The 2016 version of Operation Red Nose was launched Nov. 18 in Winnipeg by Safety Services Manitoba and Manitoba Public Insurance. The holiday season road-safety program sees volunteers help drivers who feel they may be impaired get themselves and their cars home safely. The service is provided free of charge but donations are gladly accepted (Winnipeg’s Manta Swim Club has long used the program as a fundraising opportunity). If you’re out and feel you require Red Nose’s services, call 204-957-NOSE (6673). New this year is an Operation Red Nose app available in Apple’s App Store and on Google Play.
Operation Red Nose began operations in Winnipeg on Nov. 25 and provides services between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Other participating Manitoba communities are Brandon, Flin Flon, Gimli, Portage la Prairie, Selkirk, Shilo, Steinbach/La Broquerie, The Pas and Thompson.
