Ligia Braidotti Mike Paulic, owner of the Chicken Chef location at 2539 Main St., said he’s excited to help with the company’s growth.

Mike Paulic opened up a Chicken Chef location at 2539 Main St. on March 1, but 25 years ago, he worked at Chicken Chef’s head office. After five years in that role, he decided it was time to move on and took a job at Coca-Cola, where he worked his way up to production manager.

In November 2015, the company removed its production department from Winnipeg and Paulic took a severance.

“It was a great experience. They treated me very well. I liked those guys a lot, but I got married and had to move on,” Paulic explained.

In the meantime, Paulic spoke to friends at Chicken Chef who presented him with the opportunity to open his own restaurant.

“I’ve been close with the Chicken Chef people for many years. I’ve been golfing with them, just interacting in different occasions and different functions,” Paulic said.

“They are just a friendly bunch over there. They want to see the company grow and they saw a potential in me.”

Customers who enter the restaurant will see Paulic’s people skills right away as he takes people’s orders and payments.

Paulic said he has only gotten positive feedback from his customers daily and first-time customer Garry Howell would agree.

Howell popped by on his way home on March 8 to pick up his family dinner and complimented the business.

“This is a great location. I just heard about it today, but it’s on my way home, and it’s good food,” he said.

The experience Paulic acquired as a production manager helps him with managing the restaurant’s staff and product quality.

“You’re managing people again, but you are managing chicken instead of pop,” he explained.
