Cadpower wins FCTPAM basketball title

Cadpower won the Filipino Canadian Technical Professionals Association of Manitoba (FCTPAM) basketball championship on Fri., Feb. 24, at Greenway School gym.

Cadpower competed with five other teams — Agape Insurance, Sunlife Financial, Mr. Peg, Nemco Lubricants and Realty 2000. Agape finished second while Sunlife took third.

Cadpower team manager Mar Mance was also named the league’s most valuable player.

The FCTPAM league ran from September to February at Greenway School to strengthen the camaraderie and teamwork of each members, who are composed primarily of Filipino Canadians who hold degrees or are currently taking courses in information technology, architecture and engineering.

Member of Parliament Kevin Lamoureux (Winnipeg North) and MLA Cindy Lamoureux (Burrows) assisted the officers of FCTPAM and president Opel Miguel in awarding trophies to the winners just after the championship game.

Miguel thanked all the trophy donors, participating teams, volunteers, players, referees and guests for their support and generosity.
