Filipino-Canadians say farewell to classmates

After a couple of month’s vacation in the Philippines, the balikbayan (returning townmates) who attended the high school homecoming of Daniel Maramba National High School in Santa Barbara, gathered for a get-together and farewell party on March 5, at Bonuan Blue Beach, Dagupan City.

The gathering was led by class president  Bernecito Balesteros, a professional engineer from Edmonton, Alta.

Among those who attended were husband and wife Nerio and Aurora Bautista from Winnipeg; Bernecito and Bing Balesteros from Edmonton; Reynaldo and Cecilia Cruz from Winnipeg; Serafin (Nong) Padlan from California; Paquito and Ana Carrera from Barcelona, Spain. Former classmates from Santa Barbara, Pangasinan,were Violy Gabilan Balolong and Zeny Fernandez Decano.

A lunch of roasted bangus (milkfish), lobster and pork barbecue was enjoyed by everyone. 

As they bid each other farewell, everyone promised to come back as early as November this year.
