Kamta Roy Singh is an amazing personality who excels in several facets of life. He is a successful entrepreneur, a superb community leader and sports volunteer.

In 30 years of community leadership and volunteerism, Kamta has received several community and sports volunteer awards.  However, two weeks ago, at the India Canada Cultural and Heritage Association (ICCHA) annual gala, Kamta was awarded the organization’s distinguished community service award — one of three community leaders recognized by ICCHA.

Kamta immigrated to Canada from Guyana in the Caribbean. The longtime resident of the Maples is the chief executive officer of Singh’s Enterprises and owner of four Tim Hortons franchises. A few years ago the Manitoba Filipino Chamber of Commerce awarded Kamta their employer of the year award, recognizing the diversity pool in the staff at Kamta’s Tim Hortons outlets.

Always on the go, the busy businessman manages his time so that he can regularly play cricket matches and volunteer in several sports, community and cultural organizations. He is happy to contribute his time to give back to the Canadian and Caribbean communities.

He is the third-term president (and a founding member) of Caribbean Canadian Heart Health Education — a group which promotes information and activities about the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

He has also played a leading role in the development and organization of cricket in Winnipeg, helping build cricket fields and coaching teams. He is also the president of the Lions Cricket Club.

Singh is also the president of Manitoba Hindu Seniors, a popular social, games and healthy living organization.

Earlier this year the Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba awarded Kamta its community service award.

“Volunteering is a pleasure. It’s a tremendous satisfaction to team up with friends, clubs and involved in organizations to help society,” Singh said.
