If you’re looking for a massage, Tammy Wasylowsky wants you to know that you are in good hands at her studio.
When Wasylowsky graduated from a massage therapy program, she realized there was a need for a place where people would feel cozy and taken care of. She opened the doors of In Good Hands Massage Therapy on Aug. 11, 2009, and after going from one to six clinic rooms, is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
In Good Hands (1-2605 Main St.) has been treating people who are healing from injuries and surgeries, as well as people who want to take an hour to relax after a stressful day.
“The vision for the clinic was to make you feel like you were home. It’s not clinical… It’s comfortable,” Wasylowsky said. “I have evolved and grown as a business owner, as a massage therapist. Ten years is a long time. I’m super proud that I am here 10 years later. This is my baby, and I watched it grow from me. It was just me, and I wasn’t scared.”
“I thought, ‘they (clients) are going to come.’ And they came.”
Wasylowsky hired help six weeks after opening because of the high demand. Today the studio has nine staff members, including herself.
Wasylowsky changed locations to a bigger one four years ago and extended the hours to serve the needs of their customers. Starting in the fall, In Good Hands will also be working by appointment.
“Determination and great staff helped with our success. Anybody that knows me knows that I am in no way a quitter. When we grew into this building, we expanded, and now I’m without a plan because I never saw it getting this big. It’s bigger than what I had imagined,” she said with a smile. “The way to be successful when you’re always learning is just surround yourself by great people.”
“I’m picky about who I hire because they need to fit with everybody else. There needs to be sort of a connection where everybody has the same common goal. We are all here for the same purpose, we all want to help people feel better. We are passionate about what we do.”
In Good Hands offers rehab massage therapy, relaxation massage, deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, acupuncture, and cupping. Every therapist is trained to do all of the services that fall under the massage therapy umbrella.
The studio is open from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays by appointment. For more information, go to http://www.youreingoodhands.ca/
