The rain begins at dinner time and then changes to snow as the temperature falls to a low of -4 C overnight. On Friday, expect a high of -2 C and a chilly overnight low of -13 C. Saturday’s forecast calls for a sunshine and high of 0 C, while Sunday’s high is 5 C under a mix of sun and clouds.

Kings come to town: Everything points to an unfair fight tonight at the MTS Centre. The Los Angeles Kings (44-24-5), first in the Pacific Division and fourth overall in the entire NHL, take on the Winnipeg Jets (30-37-6), who sit last in the Central Division and tied for 27th in the league. While the Kings officially locked up a playoff spot last weekend, they’ve dropped their last two contests. Winnipeg earned a 2-0 shutout over the injury-riddled Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. The Jets and Kings also play on the very last day of the regular season, April 9 in Los Angeles.

Spiritual procession: The Public Way of the Cross, the annual Good Friday spiritual procession down several Winnipeg streets, begins at 8:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 748 Keewatin St. Light refreshments will be served following the walk.

Desperate search for Chase: The hunt for two-year-old Chase Martens continued overnight in and around the western Manitoba town of Austin. The toddler has been missing since about 6 p.m. Tuesday night. He was last seen playing in the yard. RCMP, volunteer firefighters and hundreds of searchers have scoured a large area but there’s still no trace of the little boy. READ MORE

White Shadow star dies: Ken Howard, the hunky blond character actor who starred in the 1970s TV drama “The White Shadow” and was currently serving as president of SAG-AFTRA, has died at age 71.The union announced Howard’s death Wednesday. No cause was given. Howard’s acting career was still going strong 40 years after The White Shadow with TV credits including “30 Rock” included “The West Wing,” ”NYPD Blue,” ”The Practice,” ”Boston Legal,” ”Law & Order: SVU,” ”Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The Office.”. #Brussels: Belgian officials say two of the suicide bombers who carried out the attacks in Brussels on Tuesday were brothers. Brahim el-Bakraoui carried out the attack at the airport that killed 11 people, while his brother, Khalid, detonated a bomb in the subway were 20 more died. Two other attackers have not yet been identified. One is dead, while the other’s whereabouts are unknown.

#IceDay: Some people in and around Toronto are getting an extra-long weekend because of some lousy late-March weather. Many schools are closed and driving is treacherous as freezing rain hits the area.

On Mar. 24, 1986: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that Winnipeg’s next deputy mayor would be chosen in secret from one of seven candidates. The previous deputy mayor Jim Ernst had forfeited the position when he won a seat on Mar. 18 in the provincial legislature as Tory MLA for Charleswood. A seven-year-old girl, injured by a car at the hands of a drunk driver, was removed from life support. The driver was charged with impaired driving causing death and leaving the scene.
