Gas leak: A few buildings north of Polo Park, including The Home Depot and Toys R Us, remained without power as of 6:30 a.m. as Manitoba Hydro crews monitored gas levels after a leak. The mall and surrounding businesses went dark last night as crews worked on the leak at Empress Street and St. Matthews Avenue, and the mall was evacuated. Hydro cut power to more than 2,000 customers as a precaution. READ MORE
Bigger bash: About 10,000 fans are expected to attend the second Whiteout street party tonight as the Jets and Minnesota Wild continue their NHL playoff series. Organizers have doubled the size of the party zone for tonight’s game, and because it’s a Friday night, they’re expecting more people to pack the space. Ryan Thorpe reports. READ MORE
Cosby court case: Andrea Constand, a Canadian who says Bill Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2004, is set to take the witness stand today at his retrial in Pennsylvania. Jurors were unable to reach a verdict in Cosby’s first trial. READ MORE

President may give pardon: U.S. President Donald Trump plans to pardon Scooter Libby, and might do it as early as today, a source told The Associated Press. Libby, who was vice-president Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, was convicted in 2007 of perjury, obstruction of justice and making false statements.
Getting rid of gas carts?: The city is considering replacing golf carts at its courses with electric-powered ones. The city’s golf services division says a gas-powered cart burns approximately a litre of fuel over 18 holes of golf. Aldo Santin reports. READ MORE
