On Sept. 26, 1922: The Manitoba Free Press reported that after arriving in Victoria, B.C., British aviator Col. L. E. Broome announced that an aerial race around the world would be organized in the coming year, likely in the spring. A Turkish force numbering 16,000 was organized for the administration of Thrace. A thousand cases of liquor, estimated to be worth more than a quarter of a million dollars, were seized at Portal, N.D., with authorities awaiting word from the prohibition department in Washington, D.C.
