Downstream of dam: The evacuations of 30 to 40 properties along the Little Saskatchewan River downstream of the Rivers dam began Wednesday night. Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler said the government “does not have confidence in the dam.” The Brandon Sun reports. READ MORE

Crash on Keewatin Street: A cyclist was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle on Keewatin Street early today. Northbound Keewatin Street was closed between Roy Avenue and Pacific Avenue West as of 6:15 a.m.

Kids killed in tractor accident: Three young children are dead and seven people are injured after an incident in Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, Que., south of Montreal, on Wednesday. Police said 10 people were riding in the tractor’s shovel when they were ejected. The injured include three young children and four adults, two of whom are in critical condition. Riding in a tractor’s shovel is illegal, and a spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec said alcohol might have been a factor in the incident. READ MORE

Set to vote on e-scooters: A report recommends the city ask the provincial government to approve a trial for electric scooters to be allowed on Winnipeg’s transportation network. Provincial legislation prohibits e-scooters from using public right-of-ways. On July 2, 1994: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that Pink Floyd put on the largest show in the city’s history at the Winnipeg Stadium for a crowd of 45,000 fans; it edged out the previous summer’s concert by Paul McCartney in attendance, and had been sold out for months. RCMP raided the offices of several Winnipeg lawyers and chiropractors as part of an investigation into suspect Autopac fraud. In Wunnumin Lake, Ont., a former priest and boy scout leader was convicted of sexually abusing 16 boys and sentenced to six years in prison.
