If you went to bed before 2 a.m., you missed a lot. No, the U.S. doesn’t have a winner in its presidential election but you missed some incredible theatrics from the incumbent. Donald Trump declared himself the winner and vowed he’ll call on the Supreme Court to make it so. In Manitoba, while Premier Brian Pallister was asking people here to volunteer at COVID-19 testing sites, opposition party leaders were blasting the government for what they say was its ill-preparedness for a second wave.

On Nov. 4, 1976: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that while farmers produced what appeared to be a record wheat crop, there were concerns finding buyers because of a good international harvest; Manitoba’s economy was performing below average and expected to operate below average in 1977; and the city’s decision to offer a housing co-operative a pre-paid 60-year lease for a total of $164,000, instead of selling the land at market value, was seen by many councillors as a positive step toward city involvement in housing projects.
