On Feb. 2, 1960: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that the federal minister of transport said the Winnipeg area could have a new satellite airport for light aircraft operating by 1962 or ’63; the planned site for the airfield would be in the RM of St. Andrews. Winnipeg police were on the lookout for a man with the imprints of a woman’s upper teeth on his hand; a West End woman had been struck and robbed by a man, whom she bit when he covered her mouth. The British government announced it had received word from the United Nations that a ceasefire had been arranged in the Syrian border clash between Israeli and United Arab Republic troops.
