Good morning.

The University of Manitoba Faculty Association says it has reached a tentative agreement with administration that would potentially end the strike that has lasted more than a month.

The Blue Bombers advanced to the Grey Cup and the Jets beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in the best day for Winnipeg sports fans in a couple of years. The Bombers can win their second consecutive championship against the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton on Sunday. The two teams also met in the Grey Cup in 2019. The Canadian Football League’s 2020 season was cancelled because of the pandemic.

It’s bitterly cold out there today, with a forecast high roughly five degrees colder than the average low for today’s date.

Bob Dole, the sharp-tongued former U.S. Senate leader who overcame the injuries he suffered in the Second World War and was on two Republican presidential tickets, died at 98.

In Chicago, Canadian breeders won big at the horse show, with Saskatchewan sweeping the Clydesdales category. A million-dollar British embassy in Washington, D.C. was nearing completion.
